In the game of tennis, players usually make a loud noise as soon as they hit the balls. The process of grunting helps create a rhythm for the athletes as it helps them relax their muscles while playing their shots. Exhaling during the process of working out can improve one’s breathing and help increase the power of the impact between the racket and the ball. But what if it comes to the game of golf? This is exactly the curious thought that blew up on Reddit a little while ago.

In a post uploaded by a user, a specific question was put forward to the community. The question began to drive the internet crazy as people started to give out various responses after thinking about the same. The post revealed Lonelystoic72 to be a sports enthusiast who while watching the US Open tennis tournament had a “horrifying thought”.

The question posed by the user asked the Reddit community to think of a situation where the golfers would start grunting like the tennis players do. Although the golfers would not be able to pull off an Aryna Sabalenka, who is famous for making the noise around 95 percent of the time she plays a shot which is non-serve, as per a study, it would still be a spectacle to watch and hear for the golf fans.

Although the game of golf does not see a whole lot of players making sounds on the course, the audience is a completely different matter. There have been instances where the crowds shout out certain random phrases or words that turn out to be amusing or in some cases even rubbish.

Grunting is what babies do! All hell breaks loose

Meanwhile, the post went ahead to become viral on Reddit and it managed to draw in a bunch of responses from the enthusiasts of both the communities. It ranged from people being serious and making actual references to witty responses and experiences on the same! Let us take a look at some of the comments left under the post:

There was a hilarious comment that referred to cussing out after every swing. “Does yelling “f**k” after every swing count?” There were some enthusiasts who mentioned how they’d prefer to watch the women’s game over the men’s game if that happened as they said, “I’d watch more WPGA and less PGA.”

Some fans explained why there was no grunting present in the game but mentioned how it would turn out nothing less than funny if it were to happen. “They won’t because it isn’t a cardio intensive sport, but it would be a hilarious change for sure.”

Another user commented on how the noise is made by babies or amateurs. Meanwhile, he also mentioned how anyone who yelled a specific word would get his support. “Grunting is baby noises. Anyone who can yell YEEEET! as they pipe a drive gets my support.”

One fan went ahead to recount how in one video he remembers hearing Rory McIlroy make such noises as he commented, “I swear in some videos, you can hear Rory grunting on his connection. Not as loud as tennis, but still audible.”

Some hilariously responded by taking a dig at their own family. “I see you’ve never golfed with my dad as he’s trying to keep up with my brother-in-law.” While another person tried to suggest that the idea of grunting in golf wasn’t alien to him at least. “What do you mean? Half Three-quarters of my shots feature a “GAAAAAHHHHH” as part of my follow-through.”
