‘Thank Greg Norman and Phil Mickelson’: Golf World Reacts to Latest Tiger Woods Tweet

While most golfers are in bewilderment about choosing which Golf Tour to play, Tiger Woods along with his good friend and PGA Tour star Rory McIlroy had announced the forming of a new golf league. Though the upcoming league is in partnership with the PGA Tour, it is mainly steered by the golfers. With such a massive decision taken by the golfers, we take a look at what the fans on Twitter had to say about it.

Following the PGA Tour players meeting in Wilmington, Delaware, the rumors of a new Tour within the Tour had begun. Tiger Woods who had been the head of the meeting because of his seniority had reportedly come up with such an idea.

With several speculations from the fans, the announcement of a new league was finally announced. TMRW sports, the tech-focused company launched by Woods and McIlroy will help partner in the development of the league.

The upcoming Tour is named TGL. Tiger announced the Tour to the world on his Twitter account. He tweeted, “TGL is the next evolution within professional golf. I’m excited to help lead it into the future” while sharing the newly made Twitter account of TGL.

The league is set to commence in 2024. It will consist of six teams of three PGA Tour players, which also includes Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy. The league will be played on 15 regular seasons with semi-finals and finals in contention. Moreover, TGL will have a custom-built venue for each of its events.

Apart from being regarded as one of the best players on the PGA Tour, both Woods and McIlroy are also considered to have an exceptional entrepreneurial minds. With 19 combined Majors won by the business partners, it will be great to see how they level up to the new challenges.

With the inception of LIV Golf, the TGL can give a tough time to the lucrative Tour. A regular season filled with top-level golf talent, the golf fans are in for a treat. However, are Tiger and the PGA Tour copying the model of LIV Golf? Well, some fans on Twitter believe they do.
