Tiger Woods expressed his honest views about younger and older golfers
Tiger Woods is known for many reasons other than his spectacular performances on the field. The golf legend has won millions of hearts across the world and is an inspiration to many. However, one of the most admirable things about Woods is his love for working out. Despite playing for days in a row during professional tournaments, the golf superstar hardly ever misses a day in the gym. And younger golfers as well as fans love that about him.

According to the 15x major champion, working out regularly has helped him manage much more pressure and workload than others. He mentioned how he and his former rival Vijay Singh were the only two in the gym working out religiously. And on the other hand, the rest of the players didn’t really spend a lot of time pushing their bodies to limits before or after rounds. However, he said it was not the case with younger golfers!

In a biographical series with Golf Digest, Woods highlighted how the younger golfers were turning out to be better and stronger than the older ones. “The average golfer on tour now is becoming better and younger because they are stronger,” he stated. “The reason why they’re able to handle the workload is because they’ve put in more time in the gym. Now that I look back on it, it’s amazing how much stuff has evolved”

According to the former Masters champion, golfers did not follow a strict gym regime in the past. “Most of the guys were able to recover by going to the bar,” he mentioned. However, he said it is all very different now – “Now you see, everybody’s on a training table, doing their pre-round workouts or lifts, post-round cool down sessions, training six days a week!…That was unheard of.”

No matter how other professionals managed to play during his era, Woods never let his guard down. The golfer still works out and spends a couple of hours practicing every single day. And it’s safe to say that his discipline is the biggest reason for his unmatchable success in golf.
