Justin Thomas seeks inspiration from Brooks Koepka’s performance at major championships

Thomas did not have a good experience last week at the Open Championship. His opening act of Thursday was a big disaster which sunk even lower on Friday, and he made his exit after the second round. But Thomas did not take the failure to his heart, and is trying his best to learn from it. And while he is preparing for the 3M Open, he gave some insights on how he seeks inspiration from Koepka on how to perform in major tournaments.

He said, “There are a lot of people that just if they missed the cut, or if they are not playing, they don’t wanna watch but I am a golf fan. I feel like I have learned from watching Brooks at the PGA, I feel like just his demeanor and how he went about everything.”

Continuing his praise of Koepka for his composed nature while playing at the PGA Championship where he won, Thomas said, ” I mean for me personally; I was like that’s how I wanna be. How I wanna act when I am out there playing in the majors. How he picks about that golf course, just seeing how focused he was.”

It happens very rarely that a player from a rival league has praised the other, especially Thomas who don’t like LIV Golf for a long time.

Thomas’ words against LIV Golf a few months back

A few months ago, when Thomas was asked about the difference between the two leagues, he took a jab at the opponent team and said, “Well, we have an astronomically higher amount of quality players than they do in their events. I think all of us have not been shy to say it that, you know, this is stuff that we’ve been trying to do and have worked on.”.

Thomas has been a PGA loyalist and his statement on Koepka has been very surprising given his feelings towards them.
