It has been so long since we saw the great golfer Tiger Woods back in his form. After his car accident in February 2021, he stayed away from competitive golf for most part of the 2022 season. Woods was supposed to play at the Hero World Championship, but unfortunately, he had to withdraw due to plantar fasciitis. After that, he played ‘The Match‘ and the PNC Championship with his son Charlie. Fans were happy to watch him play, but Woods’ pain could not be unseen. Therefore, he again took a break.

But it’s the new year, a new season, and therefore new schedules for 2023. Fans have been waiting long to watch their hero with his competitive edge, which parted its way after his accident.

Will the golfer be playing more events than last year? Is Masters 2023 in Woods’ schedule? Will he be able to make history again? The Hall of Famer provided a few answers last year about his plans for 2023. Let’s take a look.

Will Tiger Woods be back in his form this season?

While we missed the 15-time major championship winner at the Hero World Challenge, the pro golfer clarified his 2023 schedule to the golf world. Before the event, he said he could hit the golf balls but had issues walking. Due to this, he withdrew his name from the event.

It was disheartening for him to drop out of the competition, but it was something he had to do last year not to injure himself more. In the press conference of the Hero World Challenge, he said, “I’ve had a few setbacks during the year that I still was able to somehow play through, but this one I just can’t.”

However, Tiger then explained his 2023 plan and said, “The goal [for next year] is to play just the major championships and maybe one or two more. That’s it.” During the press conference, he wanted to add more non-major events to his schedule for this season.

Woods’ next goal will be The Genesis Invitational, which he will be hosting in February. To do that, he effectively distanced himself from every event after the PNC Championship last year.

According to Jack Hirsh of Golf Magazine, some other tournaments on Woods’ schedule are the Arnold Palmer Invitational in March. However, it is possible only if he decides to play before April this year.

He will get a month off before significant events like Masters, while the Memorial is just two weeks before the U.S. Open. Nonetheless, the PGA stalwart may play in the Players Championship in March. Since we know his injury history and limitations, he must make the decisions. He will have to choose two from the upcoming three events, i.e., the Genesis, API, and Memorial.
