In fact, he has been a superhero to golf legend Tiger Woods throughout his early years in the game. But other than his golfing skills, Nicklaus has a separate fan base for his acts of kindness.

The golf legend has been involved in tons of activities to help society in all kinds of ways. In fact, Nicklaus and his wife, Barbara, have also been raising a lot of money through donations from fans and individuals across the world. And his recent close to $5 million revelation about his charity pleasantly surprised everyone, even LPGA star Annika Sorenstam.

There is no doubt that Jack Nicklaus is an absolute legend when it comes to professional golf. With 18 major championship titles to his name, the 83-year-old has had a highly decorated career in the game. Not to forget, the American golf star has won a total of 117 tournaments throughout his prime years.

However, besides his incomparable history in golf, the Golden Bear has also made a unique identity for himself through social work. Not to mention, Nicklaus and his wife established the Nicklaus Children’s Health Care Foundation in 2004.

People from all around the world have been coming forward to donate massive amounts of money toward the social cause. And talking about the same, Nicklaus revealed how much the foundation has raised during a recent podcast episode with Annika Sorenstam. The golfer claimed that he was able to raise “$4.9 million last year.” “That’s pretty special,” he proudly added.

Barbara and Jack have been constantly working towards helping children with all their medical needs and requirements through their constant charitable endeavors. Their foundation also helps support the Nicklaus Children’s Hospital. It provides them with help for the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of illness in kids.

In the sit-down, the golf legend also mentioned that all the money that was raised through charity golf tournaments that he hosted was immediately donated to the Nationwide Children’s Hospital. And within the reason for that lies a heartwarming story!

During the podcast, Nicklaus revealed a shocking incident involving the Nationwide Children’s Hospital. And ever since that mishap, the hospital has been the beneficiary of Jack Nicklaus’ fundraising foundation. Apparently, the golf legend and his wife had to rush their daughter Nancy to the hospital after the 11-month-old choked on a crayon in her windpipe.

Luckily, the hospital was able to save the golfer’s daughter’s life. And the incident motivated Nicklaus to recognize his passion for helping children all around the world through the Nationwide Children’s Hospital!
