

When LIV Golf was celebrating their season’s success and preparing for 2023, some bad news came as a shock and struck them. LIV Golf’s chief operating officer, Atul Khosla, has resigned and left LIV in a pickle. The golf community has given their point of view about the situation, and it was a hit in the head for the LIV CEO, Greg Norman. Because Norman was the pitchman, Atul Khosla was the guy who would figure out how to make the business work.

The former Tampa Bay Buccaneers executive hired Khosla as COO for the Saudi-backed circuit. But after a year of service with the tour, he resigned from all the services. ESPN’s Mark Schlabach confirmed the news; however, it was first reported by The New York Times. LIV golf has decided to work in a league formed for the next year; now the sudden resignation by the COO, the procedure seems complicated.
Khosla was expected to take over all the necessities to turn the 2023 schedule into its franchise model of 12 four-person teams. However, surprisingly, the tour agents and players were already aware of the new development. The CEO, Norman, finally confirmed the news on Friday. In the statement, he said, “At the conclusion of LIV’s successful inaugural season, Atul Khosla decided to move on.” He also said that everyone on tour respected the decision by Khosla.
How did the golf community take the news about LIV golf?
When Khosla took charge a year ago, the CEO said noble words about him. Norman appreciated that the skill set and experience Khosla was bringing to the tour were plausible. With glorious visions for golf, he said, “The strategic experience Atul brings from his recent leadership positions at a major sports franchise will enable us to execute our vision of holistically improving and elevating the game of golf around the world.”

However, he pointed out that LIV was working for a better future for golf. According to him, Khosla’s appointment was the epitome of LIV working towards bringing exceptional talents to the tour. The sport-centric Golfweek tried reaching out to LIV Golf representatives, but anyone has yet to comment. However, the golf community had many comments about this unexpected news.
