Heat indexes soared into the hundreds as the East Lake Golf Course saw Atlanta live up to its nickname of ‘Hotlanta’. But just as the leader on the scoreboard, Viktor Hovland took to his 12th tee, the tournament officials went ahead to wave off the play.

The tournament was stopped as the horn blew and the play was suspended due to a “dangerous weather situation” as a storm cell popped up north to the course. The cell went ahead to track south and proved to be a detriment to the eight groups left to complete their third rounds.
