Nearly every golf fan on social media follows Paige Spiranac. The golfer turned social media influencer has taken golf’s internet space by storm. Though many admire her for it, there are plenty of critics who downplay Spiranac. Nonetheless, being the fighter she is, the former pro golfer once shared the ill-treatment faced by her and another woman in the sport of golf.

After missing back-to-back cuts at the Dubai Ladies European Tour in 2015 and 2016, Spiranac decided to give her social media career more priority over her golf career. Moreover, the poor golf outing was met with massive criticism from fans and the media.

Many called her out for being a celebrity on the golf course instead of being a golfer. Eventually, the frustration got the better of her as she clapped back at all the hate received during her professional days.

Paige Spiranac defends herself and other women in golf

Fans often criticize the social media star for her choice of clothing. However, during an interview with the Guardian in 2018, Spiranac shared some words for everyone who’ve denounced her. “People seem to think I got where I am because of the clothes that I wear”, she said.

The 29-year-old then talked about how everyone ignored her other accolades and also shared her admiration towards the community. Paige Spiranac said, “That’s unfair to me and unfair to all of my accomplishment. I probably do more community service than any other professional golfer”.

The social media sensation further shared how some of the critics claimed that “You only show some cleavage, that’s why you have what you have,” which, according to Spiranac, is unfair. She also disclosed that this style of criticism is common among women golfers. “That’s the injustice that we face every day as women and I see it a lot in golf”.

Though Paige Spiranac has been a victim of constant hate, she has proved her haters wrong time and time again. We know the social media influencer for speaking her heart out, which she abides by to this day. Despite all that, she still is at the pinnacle of golf social media with a following that only seems to grow much further.
