Jon Rahm takes to the course yet again
Last week, the 11-time PGA Tour winner grabbed his second major championship at Augusta with a brilliant comeback in the final round! Walking away with the Green Jacket and $3.24 million, Rahm headed home to grab some rest. But just days later, he’s again back to the grind. And despite being worn out from his victory, he now once more takes to the course this week. The reason for that? His word!

The Spaniard, similar to other top PGA Tour pros, pledged to play in all the elevated events on the tour this year except for one. This commitment came as part of the rules the policy board imposed for significantly increasing the purses of specific events. This week’s RBC Heritage is also one such event, and Rahm, having already skipped the Arnold Palmer Invitational (another elevated event) last month, decided to play this week and honor his obligation.
Jon Rahm on why he didn’t WD from RBC Heritage:
“I made a commitment earlier in the year and I want to honor that commitment…I put myself in the shoes of not only the spectators, but the kids. If I was one of the kids, I would want to see the recent Masters Champion play.”

Fans also went on to point out that Rory McIlroy could learn from him. The Irishman withdrew from this week’s event just days ago, following an early exit from the Masters after not making the cut thanks to an underwhelming performance. This was Rory’s second elevated event skip, for which he’ll pay the price with a PIP penalty.
