More than the arrival of the prestigious Masters Tournament, fans are thrilled to witness the return of Tiger Woods at the major championship. And more than the fans, the golf legend himself is showing immense excitement to be back for the title after his unfathomable 2019 Masters victory. However, despite all the hard work the golfer is putting in during his practice, there is a big hurdle expected to come between him and his highly-awaited tournament win!

A major concern lowers Tiger Woods’ chances of winning the 2023 Masters

Tiger Woods has made millions of fans with his extraordinary performances on any given golf course. With his 15 major championship wins, Woods has had a highly-decorated career in professional golf. However, his recent performances have not been very impressive due to his infamous car crash in February 2021. Ever since the golf legend was involved in the unfortunate accident, he hasn’t been able to come back to his best form on the course. In fact, he has been facing serious difficulty when it comes to walking straight without a limp during tournaments.

Tiger Woods had to go through several procedures and surgeries to recover from his terrifying car crash injuries. In fact, the former champion currently has multiple screws and a metal rod holding his leg together. But what seems to be the problem? Apparently, as per the recent weather forecast for Thursday through Sunday, it is expected to rain cats and dogs on the historical golf course. Moreover, the temperature is going to drop to as low as 51 degrees on Friday and Saturday too.

How is cold weather a major issue for Woods?

As mentioned before, Tiger Woods has several screws and a metal rod fit in his right leg to support his broken bones. And for those who are not aware, metal implants are better conductors of heat and cold compared to human tissue. As per Dr. Tuvi Mendel of Quad City-based Orthopaedic Specialists, “When it’s cold outside, it’s more difficult for blood to circulate to our extremities, which can result in pain receptors becoming more sensitive…while joint conditions may not physically worsen, the pain can seem more intense”.

Woods also hinted at the matter in his recent press conference referring to his past tournaments. And his statements made it clear that cold weather is definitely an issue for his game. When a reporter praised the player for making the cut last year, Woods smiled and replied, “Well thank you, yeah, and then it got cold,”.

Unfortunately, the temperature is something that not even the greatest players, including Woods, can avoid. If anything, only the God of thunder and sky, Zeus, can save the GOAT now! And it will be extremely heartbreaking if, despite all his practice and effort, the golfer might lose to cold weather.
