As we enter the final round of THE PLAYERS Championship 2024 at TPC Sawgrass, we can see that this is going to be a nail-biting finish. After a legendary first round and a second round that ended abruptly, we say yesterday’s round raised the excitement again. The game is turning out to be unlike any other, with many records being created, like Rory McIlroy‘s 10 birdies in round 1 and Ryan Fox’s legendary hole-in-one in the dreaded 17th hole’s “Island Green.”

Now, in the final round, one can only wait and see what will happen. Will Xander Schauffele be able to maintain his lead? Will McIlroy come back to the top, and will we see some other records being shattered? With the round only a few hours away, let’s take a look at what might happen.

The Round, starting at 7:35 a.m. with Seamus Power, each group offers a different mix of ability, drama, and strategy throughout the morning and afternoon. The various pairings in the morning wave are sure to pique the interest of golfers. Patrick Cantlay and Min Woo Lee are two of them who will get things started early at 8:07 a.m., giving both players and spectators a taste of what to anticipate from the difficult TPC Sawgrass later in the day.

Even though he had a great start, Rory McIlroy’s hopes of winning the Players Championship have diminished in later rounds. However, McIlroy, who is ranked in the top 15, and C.T. Pan will take the field at 12:25 p.m., potentially close enough to catch up to the leaders.

At 1:10 p.m., the top-ranked player in the world, Scottie Scheffler along with Nate Lashley, will start the round just behind them and aim to put more pressure on the leaders. Matt Fitzpatrick and Sahith Theegala, who will start at 1:20 p.m. and are both hoping to climb the scoreboard significantly, will be closely following Scheffler and Lashley. Finishing the last pairing at 1:40 p.m. Eastern Time, Xander Schauffele and Wyndham Clark will contest the title match head-to-head for the second day in a row. Three days of patience and perseverance on the greens have taken these two close to the leader’s circle.

So, where do the rest of the players stand, and how will the last round play out? Let’s take a look at the tee timing and pairings for the day.

Tee timings and pairings for the final round

Only one player out of these pairings will take home the $4.5 million top prize. And the competition for that purse is intense, as the players at the top of the leaderboard are neck and neck with each other, and the others are not too far behind. The final round could turn out to be anyone’s game.
