Recent times have seen a rapid progression in golf. From female players becoming part of the famous golf video game to the tours adopting initiatives to help the environment, and now yet another step has been made towards the sustainable future of the sport, by The Ryder Cup. They recently announced that the 2023 edition will feature the use of green energy.

The Ryder cup is played every alternate year between the sides of Europe and America. The two regions battle it out for over a week for the title. The USA is the current defending champions.

Who is supplying the green energy at the Ryder Cup?

In a recent report, as per the Ryder Cup’s official website, the officials have announced their partnership with Aggreko. The 44th Ryder Cup will be the fifth time Aggreko supplies energy to the event in the European leg. Despite having done so in 2006, 2010, 2014, and 2018, this will be the first time the event is supplied by solar arrays and temporary generators, hoping to improve energy efficiency.

“We’re delighted to continue our work with Aggreko,” said Paul Dustin, the Ryder Cup Operations Director. “They provide a best-in-class service and industry knowledge that is second to none.” He had nothing but praise for their energy partners.

Dustin added that he was certain that Aggreko’s expertise would assist the event in locating the specific solutions that they would require, given that all of the courses were different and unique. “We can be confident that our operations team and partners can host the most famous golf event on the calendar,” he stated.

Aggreko is helping the event reduce its carbon footprint

The Aggreko team further plans to be at the site months ahead of time to set up the event perfectly. The event will take place in September this year at the Marco Simone Golf & Country Club in Rome, Italy. The company boasted not only to have the tools to ensure the event is a success, but to do so “in a way that continues to reduce carbon footprint.”

The partners provide all hospitality and catering services, on-course screens, and also fan experiences. Additionally, they will also handle the opening and closing ceremonies and the merchandise shopping throughout.
