On Sunday, McIlroy won by one stroke at the Scottish Open. On the contrary, Fleetwood, despite his stunning display of skill, fell short and was not able to place in the top 5. The Englishman settled for a T6 finish, six strokes behind the Irishman. Nonetheless, he received adequate notoriety, and all thanks to McIlroy’s 2-year-old daughter, Poppy!

After winning the match, when McIlroy exited the golf course club, his wife, Erica Stoll, and daughter were there to greet him. The Irishman happily accepted their congratulations for his win with a kiss and hug from his wife. Mrs. McIlroy then asked their daughter to congratulate her father, but it seemed like the little girl had something else on her mind. As per Stoll, all she wanted to do was hug Tommy Fleetwood!

McIlroy, of course, was far from offended; after all, he and Fleetwood shared quite the bond. They both hail from the UK and often played on the Tour together. Moreover the pair have teamed up at multiple Ryder Cups and played side by side on the International team. The Irishman laughed heartwarmingly at Stoll’s comment and said, “We all need a hug.”
