The first of eight designated events on the 2024 PGA Tour schedule is only six days away. The Sentry will be starting on January 4th on the Plantation Course in Kapalua. The event will be observing a tough players’ field and will have some of the brightest stars from 2023 teeing it up for the first time.

The event was previously known as the Sentry Tournament of Champions (TOC has been dropped for the 2024 season) because only the winners from the prior season qualified for the signature event. However, the qualification criteria have changed, and there are a few other ways through which players can play at the 2024 inaugural season event.

The four qualifying criteria for The Sentry

With Jon Rahm’s suspension from the PGA Tour, the Sentry Trophy is up for a new champion to grab. The event taking place at the Hawaii Plantation Course will be a no-cut, limited-field event. Additionally, for the 2024 season, the prize purse of the Sentry has been increased by 25%.

From $15 million in 2023, it will now offer a $20 million prize purse, with the winner acquiring 18 percent and 700 FedExCup points. Moreover, from 2023’s 40-player field, it has been increased to 50+ as the qualifying criteria have changed as well. To qualify for the signature events of the PGA Tour, mainly The Sentry, there are four ways:

As of now, the qualifying list for the Sentry displays 60 players, excluding sponsors’ exemptions and OWGR participants. From the 60-player list, it has been reported that Rory McIlroy would not play in Hawaii. Additionally, Ryan Fox, who is 28th on OWGR, has not been added to the list yet. The confirmed player’s field will be announced in a few days. Till then, clear your schedule to watch all four days of fun and not miss a single action.
