If you have bought the tickets for the Sanderson Farms Championship, you should know a few things before entering the Country Club of Jackson. This is the last time longtime patron Sanderson Farms will be the title sponsor. The tournament organizers have planned to celebrate the week with different colors.
Remember to wear red, white, and blue on Friday. It’s not a way of celebrating the Presidents Cup triumph, although it does double up as that. However, the tournament organizers prefer guests to wear the flag’s color during the second round as a tribute to the U.S. military.
In fact, the Sanderson Farms Championship also has The Outpost, an open-air hospitality pavilion on the 10th green. Trustmark, a Gertrude C. Ford Foundation, has once again returned as the sponsor of the hospitality tent. First responders and military veterans are given complimentary admission to each of the four days of the tournament.

Sunday is reserved for children. Guests are requested to wear yellow for the Children’s Hospital of Mississippi, the state’s only children’s hospital. The tournament also serves as a fundraiser. Last year, Akshay Bhatia, Brent Grant, Kyle Westmoreland, and Cody Gribble visited the hospital. While that covers one part, Sanderson Farms Championship also has devised a few other ways to honor the military personnel.

The tournament organizers have partnered with Folds of Honor, a national organization working for the children of fallen soldiers and first responders. The non-profit has been providing scholarships to children or spouses of deceased military personnel since 2007. Recently, they expanded the charity to include the families of the first respondents as well. Its founder, Lt Col Dan Rooney, is also a Class A member of the PGA of America.
