Paige Spiranac shares reasons behind deleting her social media accounts

Spiranac is one of the boldest social media influencers today. The reason for her strength is that she has faced a lot of criticism and trolling from people online. But there was a time when Spiranac had to delete all her social media accounts during her college days.

In an episode of her podcast, she said, “I was very conflicted because I got the username, Paige Renee, because I was being stalked and harassed in college by these girls and so I had to delete my Instagram. It was really bad, they were stalking me on campus.” Spiranac has played professional golf by the name ‘Paige Spiranac’, but had to change it to ‘Paige Renee’ for her social media platforms due to the consistent stalking.

She was asked if it was regarding a guy, to which she replied, “The strength trainer at the university – I would just be in there all the time. I clearly had no interest in him but they thought I did.” Spiranac also shared that later she stopped posting other things on her social media to avoid being trolled. “I was really private and only posted golf videos because nobody could make fun of golf videos,” Spiranac said.

Why did Spiranac quit professional golf?

People know Paige Spiranac for her social media presence today. But she started as a professional golfer. However, she soon quit her career as a professional and started growing as a social media star. She once shared the reason behind stepping off the course. “For me, it was never physical ability. It was always mental.” Spiranac said. “I think it has gone better now that I just play it for fun. … That’s why my game is even better than when I was playing pro.”

All competitive sports involve a lot of pressure, but only a few can handle it. Spiranac, however, knew that she was not ready to play as a professional. Nonetheless, it has turned out to be a boon for becoming a social media celebrity.
