It has been quite a while since fans have seen Tiger Woods compete professionally. Even more time has passed since fans got to see him go head-to-head with his rival Phil Mickelson. Their match was one of the most wished-upon things by golf fans too!
While the two cannot compete any longer due to them being in separate leagues, a memory of them competing for the top spot has come forward. What makes it even more interesting is the fact they both failed to win! Let’s look back on the time Michael Campbell bested both Woods and Mickelson.

Recently, Campbell shared an X post tagging Woods, Mickelson, and Singh – the four golfers in the contest of winning the 2005 US Open. He shared the post with the caption, “Wonderful memory, 2005 grand slam”. The post has since gone viral with many golf fans commenting about the event.

The 2005 US Open was held at Pinehurst Resort Course from June 16 to 19. After an intense final round, Michael Campbell secured the win with Tiger Woods coming in second. Archrivals Woods and Mickelson were competing for the title, making it more special.
But it was also special, as it was the only major title win for Campbell. Remembering the time a fan commented his win at the major was epic!

But now Phil Mickelson plays exclusively on LIV Golf. He joined the breakaway league in 2022. This fact has led to the commenter noting that he lost the rank of a legend since he moved away.
