Ludvig Aberg has no regrets. The Swedish star had the opportunity to pocket a sizeable sum from LIV Golf, but he turned it down. Twice. Aberg became the latest PGA Tour star to show his disinterest in the upstart league. Just days ago, Viktor Hovland, spoke candidly about his aversion towards LIV Golf as well.

Aberg also became the latest PGA Tour pro, after Hovland and Tony Finau in dispelling the rumors of joining LIV Golf in the wake of Jon Rahm’s $566 million switch. In a chat with SVT, the Swedish sensation shared his thoughts on the Spaniard’s departure, his two LIV Golf offers, and why he rejected both of them.

Jon Rahm’s departure was shocking

The Swede, although expressing regret, refused to blame Jon Rahm for his decision. Admitting that the Spaniard is “one of the world’s best players,” the 24-year-old said, It is of course sad that he is leaving us, but on the other hand it is something you have to respect. He has made that choice.

Ludvig Aberg echoed similar sentiments as his Scandinavian peer, Viktor Hovland, who earlier said, “It would be a bit too silly to criticize the players for leaving. After all, you only hear one angle in the media, and there are quite a few different parts happening at the same time here,”

Ludvig Aberg wants to be a part of history

Why didn’t Aberg join the rival league? The Swede feels the PGA Tour, despite becoming a “bit more fragmented,” still has some of the best players. “I want to play against the best because I am a competitive person and like to compete against the best players.”

Aberg had two lucrative offers from LIV Golf

LIV Golf came knocking at his door twice. The 24-year-old said that last year the breakaway league offered him “a lot of money.” Notably, the first offer came when Aberg was still an amateur.

Clearly, the sentiment regarding LIV Golf has not changed this year. The PGA Tour pro said there were “a number of red flags.” A potential ban from the PGA Tour and squandering his Ryder Cup chances were his biggest concerns as Ludvig Aberg said, “I could potentially burn a lot of bridges, and I wasn’t interested in that.
