Tiger Woods, the 15-time major winner, has played a key role in bringing a new global identity to the game of golf. And so has his best friend and fellow golfer, Justin Thomas. As the two former world No. 1’s are inspirations for many young golfers, they try their best to give something back to the golf community.

Tiger Woods recently announced a new event named the TGR JR Invitational. TaylorMade Golf, the Pebble Beach Company, and Tiger Woods’ TGR Live have all come together to create this event. It is scheduled to begin on October 8 and will be featuring 60 junior golfers, including both boys and girls.

The 46-year-old golf icon tweeted, “I’m excited to welcome a diverse field of young golfers to the TGR JR Invitational presented by @TaylorMade. Hosting this event at The Hay at Pebble Beach is a perfect venue to showcase a fun and competitive atmosphere.” 

Meanwhile, Justin Thomas visited his hometown to host the Justin Thomas Junior Championship for the seventh time. He spent a good amount of time with the players and sponsors at the Harmony Landing Country Club. The two-time PGA Championship winner (2017,2022) also signed autographs and clicked some pictures with them on the same course where he used to spend hours practicing.

“Whether it’s getting geared up ready to go to college, or trying to get that college exposure, or just trying to kind of make a name for themselves, it starts at a very young age now. And these kids are in the thick of it, and it’s really cool to be here and watch it,” said Thomas.

Justin Thomas feels this is the coolest thing about hanging out with Tiger Woods 

It is not a secret that the most important thing for Tiger Woods is to spend time with his kids. Woods’ children, Sam and Charlie, have always been his biggest supporters. According to Justin Thomas, the “coolest thing” about hanging out with his best friend is watching him being a father.

He said, “Probably the coolest thing for me is seeing him spend time with Charlie… He is such a good dad and he loves being around his kids.” 

Justin Thomas also has a special bond with Woods’ kids, especially Charlie. Surprisingly, both the golf legends remain part of the PGA Tour, despite the huge purses offered by LIV Golf.
