Tiger Woods has been an instrumental figure for golf over the last few decades. Even though his recent career has been haunted by injuries and surgeries, his dominance throughout his illustrious career has put him on a pedestal in the golf world. And with such recognition, it is obvious that he gets little to no privacy.

In November 2003, when his career was at its peak, Woods was engaged to Elin Nordegren, a Swedish model. A year later, the pair got married in the Sandy Lane Resort in Barbados. Their first child, Sam, was born in 2007, and two years later, they welcomed Charlie to the family. In 2010, however, the couple decided to end their marriage.

Tiger and Elin’s oldest child’s name is Sam Alexis Woods, who was born on 18th June in 2007. Revealing the secret behind her name, Woods said, “We wanted to have a name that would be meaningful to either side of the family, my side or Elin’s side, because she was born [the day after] Father’s Day. It just happened to fit.”

“My father had always called me Sam since the day I was born. He rarely ever called me Tiger. I would ask him, ‘Why don’t you ever call me Tiger?’ He says, ’Well, you look more like a Sam,” he added.
