Tiger Woods Fired His Caddie of 12 Years Over a Very Simple Reason
In an unexpected move, Tiger Woods fired his caddie and friend Steve Williams. The pair had been working together for years, and Woods’ decision had shocked the golf world. The reason, however, remained uncovered for a long time.
After he was fired, Williams ended up speaking with various publications, slowly revealing the possible reason behind Woods’ behavior. While he was fired from the job, Williams did not expect to be fired as a friend as well.

Why did Tiger Woods fire his caddie?
As per reports, Woods’ decision to part ways with Williams came when the latter went and caddied for Adam Scott. This was during Woods’ break, and the 15-time major winner was initially okay with the idea.

He apparently changed his mind, as Williams was fired shortly afterward.
Williams was said to be shocked by Woods‘ decision, especially as the two were no longer friends. He even referred to Scott’s US Open win as the best in his entire career. Despite whatever might have gone down behind the scenes, Williams’ words clarified the end of their relationship – personal or professional.

Woods’ former caddie was a part of the mini-series Tiger. Naturally, some insight into their relationship was expected.
“I thought he was firing me as a golf caddie, not firing me as a friend,” Williams said. “To this day, I find it a hard pill to swallow. Someone you spent 13 years with and gave all your time and all your effort”.

Furthermore, Woods was also the best man at Williams’ wedding. For the caddie, it was unimaginable that they stopped interacting altogether.
What did Williams do later on?
After caddying for Woods, Williams was with Scott until 2017. During their time together, Scott won his Masters and a second finish at the Open Championship in 2012. Additionally, Williams also worked with Danielle King (2017) and Jason Day (2019).

That being said, there is no way to confirm that Woods fired Williams because he worked with Scott. Their relationship, however, seems to have been taken a turn for the worse. With Williams no longer caddying full time and Woods recovering after his car crash, the two might not rekindle their friendship anytime soon.
