Tiger Woods has achieved various feats in his golf career. However, the 15-time major championship winner’s cut streak is the one that stands out. Recently, his former caddie, Steve Williams, spoke about the World Golf Hall of Fame member’s unbelievable cut streak and what it meant to Tiger.

Steve Williams on Tiger Woods’ cut streak
The sport of golf has seen various records been set and broken, be it for the most PGA Tour wins or the most major championship wins. However, one record set by Elrick Woods is par excellence. The 82-time PGA Tour winner holds the record for most consecutive cuts made. Woods made through 142 consecutive events without missing a single cut from 1998 at the Buick Invitational at Torrey Pines and ended with the 2005 Wachovia Championship.
He surpassed Byron Nelson’s record of 113 consecutive cuts made. Moreover, Tiger’s caddie spoke about Woods’ amazing cut streak in the latest episode of his podcast, Chasing Majors.

When asked what he thinks about the cut streak and why was it so important to Tiger, Steve Williams said, “Yeah, look, it’s a record that he he holds a lot of records, you know, obviously major wins than anybody. He has created a lot of records on his time playing on the PGA Tour. And it’s actually the record that he is most thrilled about is what the one he is proudest of.”

He added, “Is that consecutive cuts straight…. It’s an amazing, you know, like to make 30 cuts in a row is a great effort. You know 142 is unbelievable….He wanted that streak to reach 200…And look it’s a remarkable achievement, but it just shows you you know, how deep he can dig when he’s not playing well, he can still make the cut. It’s a phenomenal streak and It’s just, it’s a model of consistency. It’s just just an incredible streak that he was most proud of.”

Did Tiger win the 2005 Buick Invitational?
Eldrick Woods emphatically won the 2005 Buick Open. The 46-year-old professional won the Buick Invitational at Torrey Pines North and South Golf Course. He won the event with an overall score of 16-under-par and, as a result, won with a three-shot advantage. Tiger shot a final round of four-under-par, 68 on Sunday to win the event.

His final round of four-under-par included three birdies on the front nine and, as hence, moved out in three-under-par, 33. Woods made two birdies and two bogeys on the back nine to make the turn in level-par, 36 on route to a famous victory at Torrey Pines. Luke Donald and Charles Howell III finished as the runner-up to Woods. They ended the event with an overall score of 13-under-par.
