What was the actual cause for Tiger Woods’ death stare?

The episode took place during a press conference ahead of the 2012 Masters Tournament. After his personal life went down in a spiral following the much-publicized scandal in 2010, Woods was gradually getting back to the higher echelons of the game.

However, there were many more hurdles on his way, the initial one being Hank Haney’s book, The Big Miss. Haney was Tiger’s swing coach between 2004 to 2010, a successful period that brought six Major Championships and elevated the coach’s status among the golf circles.

In his book, Haney mentioned unheard information on Tiger Woods during his spell, which irked the golfer’s entourage. Tiger’s agent, Mark Steinberg, lashed out at the excerpts, calling them “ridiculous” and “clearly false”. He claimed that the book’s only intention was the author’s self-promotion, and in a way degrading the image of Woods.

When quizzed on the pressing issue, Woods remained calm and refused to answer, stating he had already replied on the same. “I’ve already commented on everything. You’re a beauty, you know that?”

However, the exchange wasn’t over yet. Woods then stared down the reporter in a ghastly fashion before waving off sarcastically, saying, “Have a good day.”

What else did Hank Haney mention about Woods in his book?

In another excerpt, Haney claimed how Woods was close to leaving golf and was seriously considering joining the Navy SEALs. “I didn’t know how he’d go about it, but when he talked about it, it was clear he had a plan,” Haney wrote in his book.

The Big Miss went on sale on March 27, 2012. Senior writer, Jaime Diaz, who has reportedly covered Woods more extensively than any other reporter in his career, assisted Haney on the book.
