It is not a secret that Earl and Kultida Woods have a huge influence on making Tiger Woods the GOAT. The couple realized their son’s passion and gave him proper training and discipline from a very early age. Apart from getting training on his golfing skills, Earl and Tida had always tried to make their son mentally strong. 

“You can’t do things just to please other people,” Tida always advised Tiger.

According to his mother, she and her son share the same personality trait. “I am a loner, and so is Tiger,” said Tida. Tida further explained she never had many close friends because she doesn’t believe in wasting her time with people she doesn’t like. “I am independent and strong-willed. That way, you survive.”

Tida believes that trying to please people is a way of wasting your energy. “You have to do what is right for yourself,” his mother would always Tiger. Tida further added that Tiger does a good job listening to her and has tried to do what is best for him. 

How does Tiger Woods do what’s best for him? 

In an interview, Woods revealed that one has to be selfish at times to become the ultimate champion; that’s how one can become the best from the rest. According to Tiger, a champion only became one because he had put more effort than everyone else.

Woods is known for his strong mentality. Even his colleagues have nothing but admiration for this aspect of the GOAT. According to Rory McIlroy, one of the best attributes of Tiger is his mental strength. McIlroy not only admires the GOAT’s ability to keep his mind in control while playing, but he also wants to incorporate that skill in his game to become more mentally strong.

Tiger began winning championships as soon as he turned professional. Soon after, he became so popular that everyone had an opinion in whatever he did. Since he was very young at the time, Tiger could have torn into pieces whenever the spectators criticized him. However, his mother’s advice on how one shouldn’t concentrate on pleasing others must have come in handy for him at times like this.
