Tiger Woods’ parents have been his biggest fans since his amateur days. They’ve attended nearly all of Woods’ wins and provided him with moral support whenever he needed it. However, his mother, Kultida Woods, famously known as ‘Tida’, stopped giving interviews in public after a bad incident.

Tida has become a known figure around the golf world, thanks to her 15-time Major Champion son, Tiger Woods. She used to give plenty of interviews before the one where it all went wrong. Tida met Woods’ father, Earl Woods, while he was stationed in Thailand in 1966. The couple got married in 1969 and six years later, Tiger Woods was born.

What led Kulida Woods to stop giving interviews?

During an interview with the Thai news service, Tida’s words were misinterpreted by the news broadcast. They declared that Tida wanted Tiger Woods to marry a woman of Thai origin, just like his father.

Tida did say that she would love to insist that Woods would marry a woman from Thai background, however, her statement was exaggerated by the news outlet. She further went on to say, “The dadgum press got that wrong.” She added, “All I said was that it would be nice. So that’s it — no more interviews.”

She has avoided giving interviews ever since and has made privacy her biggest priority. When the media begins to change the reality of truth, it is unfortunate that even the mother of Tiger Woods becomes a victim of false information.

What’s next for Tiger Woods?

Tiger Woods has participated in both Masters as well as PGA Championship this year. He made it to the final round of the 2022 Masters, despite always remaining on the edge of making the cut.

Despite his high anticipated participation in the PGA Championship, the event turned out to be one of his worst performances in a Major by Woods. He scored a 9-over 79, which became his worst round ever at the PGA Championship and fifth-worst round at any PGA Tour event in his career.

To make matters worse, he had to withdraw from the PGA Championship after soreness in his right leg. This was his first withdrawal from a Major since the 1995 US Open, during which he was still an amateur.

Woods hasn’t committed yet to play in the US Open in June but he did mention that he would be playing the 150th edition of the Open Championship at St. Andrews, Scotland, where he has won the tournament twice. However, with an injured leg, it’s still unclear if we will see Woods in Great Britain this year.
