Technology in the world is ever-adapting and always advancing. This applies to the sports world too. Equipment is not what it used to be a decade ago. Golf has probably seen one of the most significant technological changes in terms of both the sport and the equipment. In his recent podcast, Tiger Woods recollects the past and opens up about how much technology has changed golf.

The golf pro even added that some aspects of his game were now much better than when he was in his prime. All credit goes to better technology.
Woods discusses how technology has helped him improve his driving
In his recent sit-down on Bridgestone’s, ‘Another Golf Podcast,’ Woods opened up about how technology has affected his game. The golf legend claims that, due to the advancement in technology, his game has improved too. He said he was driving much farther than he had earlier.

As Woods explained, he narrated an instance. He stated recently that he was playing golf at home, and he took out his driver from the year 2000, where he played extremely well. “It was a 43-and-a-half-inch steel,” described Woods. He then added, “I swear to God when I hit my 3, it went further than that.”

The 15-time major winner stated, “Right now, I’m actually driving longer than I did in my prime. And that’s all due to technology.” Woods claimed that the improvement in golf clubs and golf balls from two decades ago had been significant, and because of that, his strikes went much further than they did back in the day.
Tiger Woods recalled the vulnerability of golf balls earlier
The golf champions stated, that golf balls were no longer unstable like how they used to be. He said, “The ball has changed so much, going from that spinny thing that we used to play when I grew up.” Woods described how, when he was younger, the balls had no consistency and would often warp. He stated that they would often carry rings and “put the golf ball through” to see if it was still round.

The 82-time PGA Tour winner also pointed out that if it was too hot, then players would rush to their cars to take the balls out “because it would get hot and mushy.” Woods added that they would also put golf balls in their pockets when playing on a cold day because “warm golf balls, they would go further.”
The golf legend stated that now things were different, because golf balls were now consistent, thanks to technology. He said, “The game has changed so much. We don’t have to worry about that.” Players no longer had to worry about the weather affecting their equipment as much.
