Tiger Woods is known for his unmatchable records on the field. The golf legend has won 15 major championships in his professional career. However, he was always compared with one man, in terms of breaking records. And it was none other than the 18-time major winner, Jack Nicklaus.

However, Woods once confessed he never wanted to break Nicklaus’ record!

Tiger Woods’ fans consider the golf legend as the greatest golfer of all time. However, there is one record that the fans expected Woods to break before retiring from professional golf. And it was getting past Jack Nicklaus’ 18 major victories. But to everyone’s surprise, Woods revealed that it was never his intention to break the ‘Great Nicklaus Record’. And it was only the fans, who continued to compare him with Nicklaus in terms of wins

Woods was in an interview with Time’s Lorne Rubenstein, where he opened up about everything including his personal life, career success, and time off the course. One of the hottest topics from the conversation was Woods and the expectations of him breaking Jack Nicklaus’ record. But with everything that Woods was going through in his personal and professional life, the dream seemed to drift far away.

However, Woods cleared a big rumor about him, which involved having a poster of Jack Nicklaus’ 18 major victories in his bedroom. When the interviewer asked him about the same, Woods clarified that it was all a major misconception.He said that there were other posters of Jack Nicklaus, but there was never one of him winning 18 major championships.

Which posters of Jack Nicklaus did Woods have on his bedroom wall?

Tiger Woods further clarified that he had around six posters of Jack Nicklaus. “It was the first time he broke 40, the first time he broke 80, the first golf tournament he ever won, first time he ever won the state amateur, first time he won the U.S. Amateur, and the first time he won the U.S. Open,” Woods said.

According to Woods, all the posters were motivating factors for him to be the best. He wanted to beat all of those Jack Nicklaus’ benchmarks before the age at which Nicklaus set those records. And when asked if he was able to do it, he said he beat them all!
