Sometimes, the simplest answers reveal the most. Fans have always seen Tiger Woods under tremendous pressure on the golf course. However, his lighter side was on full display in a recent interview video shared by Jupiter Links Golf Club, his TGL team. Among all the questions and answers, the one that stood out was a single-word answer that shed light on Woods’ relationship with his son, Charlie Woods.

The interviewer asked who the 15x major winner’s favorite person to play with is outside of the tour. “Charlie,” said Tiger Woods at the interview with Jupiter Links Golf Club. Charlie and Woods have shared many memorable golfing moments, not only at their home but also publicly. The two have been playing at the PNC Championship since 2020. Back then, Charlie was just 11 years old. He hit a hooked 5-wood shot on a par-5 hole to make his first eagle.

Since 2020, the duo has played in all 5 PNC Championships. Until now, their best finish was a runner-up, which they claimed twice. First in 2021, they fired a 15-under 57 in the final round, which included 11 consecutive birdies. However, it was not enough to beat the winners, John Daly and his son. In 2024, they were again close to clinching the title for the first time. Charlie was in top form in 2024. He made his first hole-in-one ever in the tournament, which helped them tie at the top with the Langer team. But the Langers beat them in the playoff.

While the duo has never won the PNC Championship, they both cherish the tournament. “To be out here in this environment and to have fun like this – it doesn’t get any better,” Woods said about sharing the course with his son. “This week is for each other, and we’re just rooting so hard for each of us to pull off each shot that we want.” Tiger Woods and his son may not see eye to eye all the time, but they both cherish their relationship.

While Woods made this clear through his comments at the 2024 PNC Championship, Charlie echoed similar feelings through an Instagram post. “Thank you, Dad, for believing in me in times when I didn’t even believe in myself, and for all the times when you have supported me no matter what I do,” Charlie wrote via the American Junior Golf Association on Instagram in honor of Father’s Day.

New improvements coming to Tiger Woods’ TGL

Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy’s co-owned TGL recently announced new improvements for Season 2. The inaugural season was well received, but both fans and golfers criticized aspects such as small, rotating greens, camera angles, and more. The GreenZone putting surface is now 38% larger. It increased from 3,800 to 5,270 square feet, which is closer to the average size on the PGA Tour. Besides the greens’ size, the number of holes also increased. The second season will have 12 hole locations, up from 7 in Season 1. Thus, fans and golfers alike can expect more variety in pin placements. Furthermore, graphics within the virtual holes have been upgraded using Unity 6 with High-Definition Render Pipeline.

Besides that, two greenside bunkers have been enlarged by 50%, with revetted turf layers creating distinct vertical, greenside walls, while the smallest bunker was removed. Fans will also benefit as the knoll (highest point) of the GreenZone green has been lowered by 18 inches. This will allow for better fan viewing and more natural slopes on the putting surface.

Fans can see many elite golfers play in the TGL. Tiger Woods, Rory McIlroy, Max Homa, Keegan Bradley, Justin Thomas, and many more are expected to compete in the TGL Season 2. It will certainly be exciting to see them compete with the new and improved tech.
