Tiger Woods Remorsefully Admitted to ‘Living a Life of a Lie’ After Receiving ‘Brutal’ Treatment From His Mom and Elin Nordegren Back in 2010

Tiger Woods is responsible to give a new perception to the game of golf. But Woods’ stories of his struggle and hard work in developing his skills have changed the mindset of millions of people towards golf. Among his struggle stories was a time when Tiger Woods went through his divorce from Elin Nordegren. He once talked about the reactions he received from Nordegren and his mother after some rumors about him were found to be true.

“They both have been brutal,” said Woods in an interview with ESPN describing the reactions from Elin Nordegren and his mother Kultida Woods. The golfer didn’t run away from the allegations placed on him. He said, “They’ve both been very tough. Because I hurt them the most. Those are the two people in my life who I’m closest to.”

Woods is highly appreciated by his fans for his humble nature and down-to-earth attitude toward his well-wishers. But he admitted that he was not the person he used to be anymore while performing all his wrongful deeds. “I had gotten away from my core values…that is not how I was raised,” Woods said.

Woods went through 45 days of therapy and treatment. However, he did not disclose what he did during that time and called it “a private matter”. Woods also had to take a long break from the sport after his split with his Elin Nordegren. However, the golfer returned to professional golf at the Masters in Augusta almost five months later.

Woods was in disbelief of his actions

Tiger Woods was unable to believe that he deliberately hurt his loved ones. And he admitted to his mistakes and how they made him feel in the interview. “I was living a life of a lie,” he said. “I can’t believe I actually did that to the people I loved,”. He also said that when he stepped out of denial, it got very ugly and hard for him to accept what he had done. But eventually, he had to start living with his decisions and their consequences.

Woods got divorced from his wife in 2010. The ex-couple have now moved on in their respective lives and are trying to be the best parents for their children – Sam and Charlie. Tiger Woods has also told his children about the “mistakes” he made and is trying to spend as much time with them as possible.
