Woods joined and sat in on Bridgestone Golf’s ‘Another Golf Podcast,’ where he opened up about his relationship with Charlie. The 15-time major winner revealed that he had told his son on multiple occasions that they were not friends. He would say to Charlie, “Son, you will never be my friend.”

The golf champ then went on to explain to Charlie that he would always be friendly with him, but that didn’t mean they were friends. Woods said this was because, as a father, he had responsibilities towards Charlie. He explained and said, “My responsibility is always to give you the advice and the impetus in the environment to learn and grow and prosper.”

Tiger Woods claims he has to get Charlie ready for the world

He stated that it was necessary to get Charlie ready to face anything that comes his way in life and prepare him for a time when Tiger would no longer be around. He claimed it was his responsibility as a father to teach Charlie how to make good decisions in life. And as a parent, he had to ensure that his son knew the difference between being friendly and being friends.
