It is no secret that the only son of Tiger Woods, Charlie Axel Woods, wants to be a professional golfer like his father. And he has already started to prove his talent through junior golf events and the PNC Championships. As the G.O.A.T. of the sport, his old man should be the one the 13-year-old should look up to. However, such is not the case with him, and his father is the reason for that.

“I told him (Charlie Woods), don’t copy my swing. Copy Rory’s (McIlroy),” Woods said.

Notably, Woods was asked about his son’s swing in the NBC broadcast booth during the 2022 Hero World Challenge, which he hosts. Charlie Woods’ swings were the talk of the golf community after a video of him from a junior event went viral. And the golfer of 26 years revealed how he asked his son to copy the current world no. 1 golfer’s swing rather than his.

Furthermore, he continued to explain why he picked McIlroy’s swing as the perfect one for Charlie Woods to imitate. “Have you ever seen Rory off-balance in a shot?” Woods asked the golf analyst, and as expected, his answer was “no.”

“That’s one of the things my dad instilled in me that you should be able to balance and hold your finish until the ball rolls and stops,” he continued. “‘ You can swing as hard as you want,'” he explained why his father’s advice made him pick McIlroy’s swings over any others. “But you need to have balance.”

The golf world reacted to the 15-time major champion’s remarks on McIlroy’s swings
