Tiger Woods is finally at Augusta National for the opening round. TWLEGION shared a picture of the five-time Masters champion entering the greens. Woods will tee off at 3.54 PM EDT in a group with Max Homa and former world no. 1, Jason Day. This will be the 48-year-old’s first competitive round since withdrawing from the Genesis Invitational. The five-time Masters champion only played at the Seminole Pro Member, where he netted a T44 pairing with the PGA of America CEO, Seth Waugh.

Considering, Woods’s historical result, anticipation was high. However, it was his Sun Day Red tee that became the immediate talking point. Sun Day Red has polarized golf fans more than enough in its short lifespan. This time, it was no different.

But let’s also not forget that Tiger Woods arrives with the hopes of making 24 consecutive cuts at the Masters, thereby separating himself from the pack of Fred Couples and Gary Player. But the job might be tougher for the 15-time Major champion. The inclement weather in the morning has pushed the tee times further. Although the sunset is around 7:58 p.m., there is a slight chance that the first round might spill over to Friday.

It doesn’t bode well for the 48-year-old, whose body hurts after every competitive round. It doesn’t spell well for a veteran golfer whose knee and back bear the brunt of the on-course workload. A postponed round might mean he had to play more than 20 holes on Friday. That casts a slight doubt over Woods’s chances of making the cut.

A missed cut means that for his countless fans, the window of opportunity to catch a glimpse of Tiger Woods is dwindling pretty fast. It does put a frown on their faces. They are also worried about Woods’s fashion choices at the same time.

Tiger Woods fans can’t accept the changing reality

The pink tee-shirt was a curious departure from his suave self on and off the greens. Since its debut, Woods’s new apparel sponsor, Sun Day Red, has failed to win the hearts of fans. Many simply disapprove of the tiger skeleton logo. Others were very much averse to the idea of putting ‘Sun’ and ‘Day’ separately. The products didn’t land with the same bang as was expected. It turns out, two months later, the feelings haven’t changed much.

This user feels Woods needs a new stylist. “God his stylist needs to be fired.” Another user, too, wrote,That shirt is heinous.” It’s probably the light, but a large section of the Twitterati pointed out Woods looked more like his virtual avatar than a real human. One user tweeted, “Thought this was a video game at first“. Another user, too, wrote, “AI.” One more user had a strong verdict on the “fit,” and they commented, that it “f**ks.”

Others, however, are more concerned about his health. Woods has yet to complete a full 72-hole round in any official PGA Tour events since withdrawing from last year’s Masters. “[T]he back, the knee, other parts of the body have to take the load of it, and just the endurance capability of walking a long time and being on my feet for a long time,” the Hall of Famer said in the pre-tournament press conference

One user quipped, “I bet the line he withdraws but tomorrow am“. Another felt his time had passed, and the Tour needs to accept that instead of trying to sell him unsuccessfully again and again.

However, withdrawing will be far from his mind, as the veteran golfer was confident of slipping his broad shoulders into the fabled Green Jacket once more. Tiger Woods also doesn’t think of becoming an honorary starter, and neither is being a Ryder Cup captain in his mind. Major. That’s what he is thinking about.
