Jason Day or Tiger Woods – who had it better?
Day, was at the height of his career reaching OWGR 1, when Nike partnered with the Australian International for $10M annually. Comparably, Woods’s first contract was for $40M for five years in 1996 when he just turned pro.
The initial deal has seen multiple extensions, the last coming in 2013, for a reported $200M for ten years. Double the amount Day was offered annually.
Moreover, Tiger Woods also has an edge over Day because of his signature shoe line. Notably, the 48-year-old was the first golfer to have his signature kicks.

In fact, Nike re-released their TW13 shoe this year celebrating perhaps the most popular signature kicks. On top of that, the 82-time PGA Tour winner has been actively involved in designing and testing the Nike prototypes as well.
Little wonder, that Woods has a building named after him in the Nike HQ. Interestingly, the 15x Major winner also owns the copyright of the TW logo that appears on his cap. Day, however, had no such privileges.

Nike partnered with Jason Day after shutting their golf equipment business in 2016. So, Day was allowed to use TaylorMade Golf Club since the beginning. Woods, on the other hand, used to sport Nike golf clubs before switching to TaylorMade. Reportedly, a similar situation is in the offing. While Jason Day has found a new partner, what about Tiger Woods?

Reportedly, Nike is planning to outsource their golf apparel business through Original Equipment Manufacturers. Curiously enough, TaylorMade, owned by Adidas, is looking to expand its apparel business. Multiple reports indicate that Woods along with other Nike golfers are waiting for that opportunity to tie up with the equipment brand.
