The golfer earns more than most other golfers on the PGA Tour. And therefore, he can easily spend thousands of dollars on surgery without a thought. Woods’ spinal fusion surgery was performed in April 2017 by Dr. Richard G. Guyer. However, if we look at the cost of the surgery, Woods spent approximately $68,126 on the procedure. The amount totals nearly the average income of an American citizen, which is $70,430. But as mentioned earlier, money has never been a problem for Woods ever since he joined professional golf.

In an interview, Woods explained exactly how he felt while playing before the surgery. “When I swung a golf club, it felt like I was playing the game bloody knuckles”, Woods said“Now do that 1,000 times per day and see what that feels like.” However, in a later interview after the procedure, Woods said“The surgery went well, and I’m optimistic this will relieve my back spasms and pain,”.

How does Tiger Woods’ spinal fusion surgery help him?

As per experts, the main goal of going through a spinal fusion surgery is to correct the problems with the lumbar vertebrae. The procedure involves the fusion of painful vertebrae and combining them to grow into a single, strong bone. When Woods returned to professional golf after the surgery, he claimed another major title in 2019 by winning the Masters. And the golfer is still getting ready to get back on the field in upcoming tournaments.
