Tiger Woods, in an interview, called his bond with Jordan a natural one. The foundation of their bond, according to Woods, lies in their shared experience. Both the star athletes dealt with fame and learned to keep the wall between their personal and professional lives.

So when Woods was asked what he thought about Michael making his NBA comeback at 38, he focused on how he wanted to make sure Michael is ready for it, in all aspects.

Woods said, “I really wanted to make sure he was in the right place mentally. Physically, he’s going to be the best judge of that but mentally, you’re making a commitment to go ahead and see this through. If you don’t you’re making the wrong decision because at such a late age, 38, coming back, you have to make that mental commitment to achieve what your body can give you and it’s not going to be easy. And to make sure he was in the right place mentally was what I kept harping on and he kept reassuring me that he was ready to do it.”

Verily, it is rather important for a player to be ready both mentally and physically before restarting their career. Woods’s friendly advice to Jordan was probably a useful one.

Even though they briefly lost touch in 2009, when Woods stopped communicating with most of the outside world. He and MJ managed to keep their shared bond alive, publicly.

Jordan also shared his apprehensions when Woods was making his comeback in 2016. He said, “The thing is, I love him so much that I can’t tell him, ‘You’re not gonna be great again.’ ”

However, Woods made his grand comeback and was successful at it. Michael Jordan was quick to appreciate him for his return. Jordan also called Woods’s return the greatest comeback he had ever seen.
