Woods has seen a lot of traumatic phases in his personal life. And one of the hardest times for him to continue focusing on his career was when he lost his father. The golf legend was completely shattered after his death and was looking for ways to cope with the situation. It was then that he started spending time with the Navy SEALs at their private training facilities.

Woods went skydiving with his friends in the Navy and did everything it took to join the forces. However, he had not broken the much anticipated Jack Nicklaus’ 18 Major victories record. And it was something his fans had been looking forward to. However, the golfer himself was not very interested in breaking the record.

One of Woods’ friends once revealed that it would not be a surprise if the golfer had quit golf right after he broke the record. He said, “If he had had a hot two years and broken the record, he would have hung up his clubs and enlisted. No doubt.”

What did Woods’ colleagues at the Navy think about him?

Woods’ friends and fellow Navy SEALs didn’t have a very good perception of the golfer. A former SEAL once described Woods as “underwhelming” for most people at the camp. He also said that the golfer only did the more entertaining tasks like jumping off planes and shooting guns. Woods was still trying to get over his old man’s death. It might’ve been a way for him to get out of his underlying grief. And who knows if he might have joined the Navy and left golf.
