Why was Tiger Woods fined at the 2011 Dubai Desert Classic?

Tiger Woods was having a tough time at the tournament and was just one shot off the lead. And that is when the golfer struck a three-over-par 75 and went down below on the leaderboard. Nevertheless, winning and losing are just part of the game. But something that’s not a part of the game is “spitting” on the field.

Woods was on the 12th green during the final round of the tournament, and right after missing the putt, the golfer was caught on camera spitting right next to the hole. It was an embarrassing moment for the golfer and all his fans. And things got even worse when Woods was fined by the European Tour for his detrimental actions on the field.

However, the golfer decided to apologize to the tour and his fans, so he brought things online. Woods tweeted“The Euro Tour is right — it was inconsiderate to spit like that and I know better. Just wasn’t thinking and want to say I’m sorry.” He added, “Everyone was terrific all week, fans especially. Dubai is always a fantastic host. Just wish the week could have ended better.” Woods was not happy with how the Dubai Desert Classic ended with him finishing in 20th place.

Woods explained what happened on the field

During his post-match interview, Woods talked about his feelings during the match. The fans could see how irritated he was during the tournament. And to clear the air, he said“I got off to such a poor start…But there were quite a few positives this week”. Woods also mentioned that there were a few things that he needed to work on. And how the tournament had helped him reflect on his mistakes as a professional golfer.
