Over the years, Justin Thomas and Tiger Woods have formed a special friendship. It was an unexpected bond in many ways and seems to have benefitted both PGA Tour icons in certain ways. During a recent podcast appearance, Paige Spiranac discussed Thomas and Woods, also sharing her opinion about the two.

Stars like Jon Rahm have also discussed the Thomas-Woods dynamic, and how Woods has often helped the younger.

While on her podcast, Spiranac discussed her picks for the Masters, which included Thomas. However, an interesting part about her observation was how Woods, who is making his PGA Tour return, would help Thomas.

How will Tiger Woods help Justin Thomas at the 2022 Master?

During an episode of Playing a Round with Paige Renee, the 29-year-old spoke of her picks for the Masters, while mentioning Woods.

According to Spiranac, Woods‘ comeback might ultimately help Thomas. The 28-year-old apparently worked hard to get out of Jordan Spieth’s shadow and works with an underdog mentality. With all the attention on Woods, Thomas might just ‘fly under the radar’.

This, as per Spiranac, might actually help Thomas. He has thrived under such circumstances and had worked hard to get out of it as well.

“When they are talking about Tiger, they’re like, oh, and JT is there, you know, just, you know, helping him out. He’s there, you know, he’s just there. He’s not really that big storyline anymore,” Spiranac said. “And so I think it’s gonna be like a really good comeback for him to, you know, kind of change things around after having kind of a hard couple of years.”

While Spiranac does not mention who might or might not win the Masters, her message was clear. Though Woods motivates himself, he will also end up helping Thomas.

Can Thomas or Woods win the Masters?

Of course, both Woods and Thomas have had different career paths for the past few months. While Thomas has won The Players Championship (2021), Woods will be returning after months.

The 15-time major champion is off to a good start and will have to hang in there amongst other stars.

Spiranac herself mentioned JT’s round at the Players (2022), along with his top T3 finish at the Valspar Championship.

With Cameron Smith and Dustin Johnson starting strong, there are many golfers who can win the Masters.
