While playing golf, finding the perfect equipment is almost as important as honing your skills. Moreover, there is an extensive variety to choose from, given the ever-increasing techniques and market. And while every player has specific objectives for when choosing a ball to play with, it leads us to wonder; what is the most used golf ball on the PGA Tour?
Which ball to use is a significant question and is determined after days of experiment, testing, and comparison. Moreover, it depends on the goal of the golfer, whether they’re looking for spin, distance, flight, or something else. However, it’s pretty safe to assume that Titleist and TaylorMade are two of the most popular companies out there.

GolfingFocus conducted an analysis of the top 100 PGA Tour players and the kind of balls they use. They discovered that nine different balls by five manufacturers are in play amongst them, with a staggering 69% playing with a Titleist Pro V1 or Pro V1x. Callaway comes in at second and only 6% use TaylorMade’s TP5x.
In addition, at the 2021 Tour Championship, 21 of 30 players were using a Titleist ball, including Justin Thomas, Sungjae Im, Patrick Reed, and Harris English. Meanwhile, only four used TaylorMade- Jon Rahm, Dustin Johnson, Colling Morikawa, and Rory McIlroy.
So, Titleist is clearly more popular amongst the players. But this does not reveal anything about the superior quality of any ball, as it only depends on the objective of the golfer. What do you think?
