While becoming the world’s top for a day itself is an achievement, becoming it for weeks is a special feeling. Therefore, here are the top 5 American golfers who remained no. 1 for more than 10 weeks!

Tiger Woods is on the top, again!

It would not be shocking to know that Tiger has topped this list too. He is not considered the greatest golfer of all time for no reason. He had spent 683 weeks as the world no.1; It is a Guinness Record. 

He ranked at the top of the Official World Golf Rankings in 1997 for the first time. Moreover, between 1997 to 1999, the golfer had achieved this position 6 times in total.

Later, he had spent 264 weeks in a row as the world’s best, only to beat his record again after being at the top for consecutive 281 weeks. 

Dustin Johnson is on his way to becoming the topper? 

While he is still far behind beating Woods on the list, Johnson is the only other American golfer to spend more than fifty weeks as the OWGR topper. The 37-year-old Dustin Johnson is the second on the list with 91 weeks as the topper. 

Beginning in February of 2017, Johnson has become the world no. 1 five times till 2019. The longest streak he had was when he spent on top from 2017 to June of 2018. 

Brooks Koepka became the world’s best after winning the same title twice! 

Koepka became the world’s best for the first time in 2019, after winning the PGA Championship. Known for winning the same events multiple times, the 2019 event was his second after winning the 2018 PGA. Koepka had won U.S. Open and WM Phoenix Open twice in his career.

Furthermore, Koepka maintained his position on top of the OWGR standings for 38 weeks.

Jordan Spieth gently sneaked his way on the list

Popular for his gentlemanship on the course, Spieth is the fourth on the list with his 26 weeks.

While it is way lesser than that of the other three, he would be happy that he got to beat the 5 weeks of his best friend, Justin Thomas‘.

The veteran golfer Fred Couples is on the top 5 list!

The 62-year-old Fred Couples is in the fifth position on the list after being placed on top for 16 weeks. He has won 15 PGA Tour events, including the 1992 Masters. The golfer still continues to show his class on the PGA Tour Champions, where he has won 13 titles.
