Is money the more important factor?

Michael Kim had tweeted the question, “Why is Rory still playing?” ahead of the second round of the Tour Championship. This comes after Rory McIlroy suffered a seizure caused by muscle spams twice before the first round. He still played the game.

In the press conference, after the first round, McIlroy clarified he had no intention to withdraw at any point before the round. He said he was hoping for the gaps between rounds to allow him a sufficient recovery to pursue the tournament. He seems to do well so far with a level-par score in the first round.

However, there is still some uncertainty surrounding what might be his decision in case his fitness or performance gets worse. Kim’s question addresses that uncertainty and it has started a conversation.

Keeping the sarcasm aside, whether this will affect McIlroy’s spot in the Ryder Cup is the real question. McIlroy finishing the Tour Championship, reasonably well, is crucial here.

An optimistic fan observed McIlroy’s recovery through the first round and spoke about it.

One of the popular responses was from a commenter with the handle YungKuch. To Kim’s question, he responded with this tweet.

One fan sarcastically retorted to this response about how the comment “aged well” Yung Kuch replied “3 more days left to play”.

Another commenter pointed out to YungKuch that McIlroy is beating Scheffler and Rahm. YungKuch again responded with the three more days statement. Let’s wait and see if it’s a withdrawal or a resurrection.
