The ultimate battle of the 2024 season kickstarts in just a few hours! The top 30 players in the FedEx Cup standings have headed to East Lake after an exhilarating weekend at the Castle Pines. They will be competing in the final showdown to bag the title of the 2024 Player of the Year. While Keegan Bradley won the BMW Championship last weekend, he is still in the fourth position on the list.

The top layers of the standings will pretty much look the same this weekend as well. Scottie Scheffler and Xander Schauffele are the top and only contenders for winning the title, no matter who wins the Tour Championship. They have a point difference of only 1193, which is pretty close. But before the championship begins, with terrible heat conditions being a hindrance at the St. Jude Championship and thunderstorms causing troubles at Castle Pines, what will be the fate of the players at East Lake?

Chances of thunderstorms predicted for the opening round

The first round of the Tour Championship is scheduled to begin at 8:26 pm GMT on August 29, according to the official website of the PGA Tour. The AccuWeather report for the same says, “Partly sunny with a thunderstorm in a couple of spots in the afternoon”. The temperature at East Lake is likely to go as high as 33 degrees, and as low as 25 degrees on Thursday.

The Max UV Index is also predicted to be very high (10). However, that is not the main concern. The primary issue is the 49% chance of precipitation and 29% of thunderstorms, with a density of 5.3 mm. It might carry on for an hour. So, if you are planning to witness the Tour Championship live, don’t forget to carry your umbrellas.

The winds will be blowing from ESE at a speed of 6.8 mph. There will also be wind gusts flowing in at the rate of 13.6 mph which might also be the cause of hindrance for the match. Additionally, there will be 34% cloud cover, which might add up to a slight dark weather condition.

Catch the Tour Championship on Golf Channel

For the Thursday round of the Tour Championship, you can stream into Golf Channel or Peacock from 1:00 pm to 6:00 pm to witness the players perform their opening shots. Friday will have pretty much the same schedule. On Saturday the same channels will broadcast the show from 1:00 p.m. to 2:30 pm.

NBC will also be featuring the weekend showdown at the East Lake. On Saturday the timings are 2:30 pm to 7:00 pm. For the final round, stream into Golf Channel/Peacock from 12:00 pm to 1:30 pm and NBC from 1:30 pm to 6:00 pm. Are you excited for the final event of the 2024 PGA Tour season?
