While DP World Tour Pro Cedric Gugler did some incredible work fighting through the DP World Q-School. But after securing a place on the HotelPlanner Tour, things went horribly awry owing to one major mistake on his part. Now, while the Pro golfer will be facing a period of suspension, Gugler seems to be gutted to the core for his irrational behavior.

In a recent ruling, Gugler has been barred from participating in the HotelPlanner Tour season for the first five months. While this ban will remain for a period of ten events, it has been described as a “reckless infringement of the Rules of Golf.” Having received such a hefty suspension, Gugler took to his Instagram and penned down a heartfelt note.

“2025 season in the books Not the easiest year…. full of setbacks, challenges, and plenty of lessons… Incredibly proud of how i fought through DP World Tour Q-School at the end of the season securing a small Category on the @hotelplannertour !”

The incident took place at the Raiffeisenbank Golf Challenge. Trying to play a strong hand, Gugler shot a four-over-75. However, the golfer was apparently shooting from an illegal position. After repeating the same mistake over and over again, Gugler was swiftly disqualified from the tournament. But that was not the end of his woes.

An independent panel launched an investigation. After a thorough analysis, they concluded that Gugler’s behavior fell far below the line of what could be considered ethical conduct by the Tour members.

In the Insta post, Cedric Gugler reflected on his growth over the past seasons while extending his gratitude to everyone who supported him during his tough times.

“I’m grateful for every new place, every person I met along the way, and every moment that pushed me forward. Growth isn’t always pretty but it’s worth it.”

“A big Thanks goes to my family, my girlfriend and all my sponsors for always believing in me and pushing me forward. We will be back.”

As per the official statement from the European Tour Group, the suspension will commence on January 29, 2026, and will be lifted once the tenth tournament concludes.

While this hindrance is expected to peg back Gugler’s career significantly, he was on a roll and hoped for strong support in the Swiss Alps.

How Cedric Gugler battled fierce Swiss winds to stay in contention at Crans Montana

Back in September 2024, before the Omega European Masters, Cedric Gulger hoped that the support of his home crowd would help him take the best shots.

Gulger failed to qualify for the Rosa Challenge Tour in Poland. But following that, he pulled off an impeccable performance at the 2024 Crans Montana, standing just six strokes behind Matt Wallace and tied for fifth place on the leaderboard.

The strong winds at the Crans-sur-Sierre Golf Club in the Swiss Alps turned out to be really intense, even for Gugler, who has played there more than 30 times and knows the course very well.

“It was a fight, it was tough,” the home favorite stated.

Reflecting on his performance in the Swiss Alps, Gugler further added, “I did great, I stayed patient the whole day. Me and my caddie were saying we just had to stay patient the whole time, and good things will happen. That’s what I’ve told myself the whole tournament already, so yeah, very tough and played well. No chance (experienced weather like this at Crans-sur-Sierre Golf Club). I’ve seen snow, I’ve seen a lot of rain, I’ve seen a load of low temperatures but I’ve never seen wind like that before. It was very, very tough.”

While the Swiss golfer expected his performance to be a lot ‘better’ with the support of his home crowd, the weather conditions made sure to make it a tough game for the star.
