2023 Hanwha Lifeplus International Crown: Prize Money Breakdown and Winner’s Payout

The long-awaited Hanwha Lifeplus International Crown finally starts today in less than three hours. Fans are super excited about the tournament and its new format. Every single piece of news regarding the game is diligently being followed by golf enthusiasts. This includes the exciting view of TPC Harding Park in San Francisco, the qualifying team, and of course, the delightful purse associated with the event.

The game will witness the competition between the world’s best eight teams. The US Team will set foot on the field as the top seed, closely followed by the defending champions, the Republic of Korea. Other countries contending for the ‘crown’ and prizes include Japan, England, Thailand, Australia, the People’s Republic of China, and Sweden.

With a $2 million purse, the competition will demand quality putting and accurate driving. The tournament had US$100,000 as prize money for each winner in their last edition in 2018. This year, Hanwha Lifeplus International Crown adds $25,000 more to this amount. Hence, the winners to hold the crown will get a whopping $125,000 each, summing up to $500,000.

All eight teams will receive a share of the total prize. As the positions descend, the cash amount that the team will get also decreases. The US Team and the Korean Team are favorites to compete on coming Sunday in the finals. It is because on one hand the World No. 1  Nelly Korda, LPGA star Lexi Thompson, World No. 4 Lilia Vu, and Danielle Kang will represent United States. On the other hand Korea has its strength distributed among World No.3 Jin Young Ko, three-time Major winner In Gee Chun, World No. 9 Hyo Joo Kim and Hye Jin Choi

However, experts have referred to Thai golfers as the dark horses of the championship. China having world No. 13, Xiyu Lin makes it a team to watch out for as well. England, however, will be disheartened as Georgia Hall and Charley Hull withdrew from the tournament due to health reasons.

The new format of the Hanwha Lifeplus International Crown

The updated format and the new venue will play a key role in determining the prize winners. The two pool, A and B will be have four teams each. Team at 1, 4, 5, 8 seeds will be in group A and team 2, 3, 6, 7 seeds will sit in group B. Every country will face the other three opponents in four-ball matches on Thursday, Friday and Saturday. On Sunday, the top teams from both the groups will compete against the second-highest team in the opposite pools. The winners of the same will proceed to play the finals, while the losers will fight for the third place.
