Interestingly, Zurich Classic, being a team event, hasn’t received a field rating from OWGR. So, the winner won’t receive any OWGR points. But a victory is worth 800 FedEx Cup points, divided equally between the team members. They will also receive a two-year PGA Tour exemption. A spot at the PGA Championship and the remaining Signature events are also on the line.

No one grabbed the attention more than Rory McIlroy and Shane Lowry. The Ulsterman is teeing up at Avondale for the first time, and he has been enjoying it a lot. The duo is just two shots off the lead after maintaining a share at the top in each of the first two rounds. McIlroy and Lowry will also represent Ireland in the Olympics. Lowry believes McIlroy has kicked into form after he made consecutive birdies on the back nine.

Zac Blair and his college friend Patrick Fishburn almost matched the tournament record of 59. The BYU teammates shot 60 at TPC Louisiana, one shot shy of Patrick Cantlay and Xander Schauffele’s 2022 Zurich Classic record.
