Five of the top 15 players from the OWGR table will head to New Orleans from South Carolina. The Zurich Classic of New Orleans is the Tour’s only team event. The 80-man field includes three of the world’s top ten, including World No. 2. Despite changing its look and form, the Zurich Classic will have a cut—the top 33 teams and ties will advance to the final two rounds.

Aside from the $8.9 million purse, of which each member of the winning team will get $1,286,050, top-ten and ties will earn an exemption into next week’s CJ Cup Byron Nelson. The Tour released the tee times and teams earlier today.

Which teams to look out for over the weekend

Sahith Theegala and Will Zalatoris might emerge as the dark horse. They don’t have the Ryder Cup experience, like their first round opponents. But Theegala already has five top-10s from 11 appearances, including a solo second at the RBC Heritage. Zalatoris knocked off another top-10 finish at this year’s Masters.

Rory McIlroy will make his tournament debut, as his plan for playing more before the Masters stretches beyond the season’s first major. Shane Lowry had earlier paired up with Padraig Harrington after the Zurich Classic moved to its new format in 2017.

Interestingly, three groups of siblings will tee up at TPC Lousiana. Alex and Matt Fitzpatrick will play at 2.10 PM ET against twins, Nicolai and Rasmus Hojgaard. Then there is the Coody twins, who recently made history by being grouped together in the opening round of Texas Children’s Houston Open.

Veteran, Steve Stricker will tee off in his second PGA Tour event after THE PLAYERS. Stricker wanted Tiger Woods in his team. But that didn’t happen, and he will join forces with Matt Kuchar instead.

Zurich Classic will tee off on April 25. The New Orleans event since transforming into the Tour’s only team outing, has followed Ryder Cup-like Fourball and Foursome formats. The first and third rounds will be played in Fourball, and the second and fourth rounds will be played in Foursome.
