Who knew that Tyrrell Hatton, who keeps cussing on the course, would be such a soft guy? Well, he is, and it’s for his beloved wife, Emily. For years, fans have shared the story of how the LIV player showed up half an hour late to his own ceremony, a blame that was earlier put on his driver. But now, we know the actual truth. All thanks to his recent conversation with Andrew Santino on No Bad Lies.

“Yeah, but I was with Emily at the time… We were late together…We eloped. It was just us two. And, you know…it was in Asheville,” Hatton told Santino, addressing the matter. “To be fair, we were pretty cutthroat…We didn’t want to move it back another year. So that’s why we eloped. And then for our first anniversary, we did the wedding properly…We went out to Florence in Italy,” Hatton revealed.
The couple celebrated their first anniversary with family and close friends, sharing that the decision to elope was partly born out of the times.

The couple reportedly started dating back in 2015, got engaged in 2019. The wedding, officially, was set to take place in 2021, and if one remembers, that was peak COVID time. There were all sorts of restrictions in place, and the chances of the wedding getting delayed were paramount, but they simply didn’t want it!

The entire scenario, if one pictures it, turns out to be hilarious. An already married couple is arriving late to their own wedding, as the guests wait on the side of the aisle.
“It was funny … the day wasn’t very smooth,” Hatton once said as reported by bunkered.
The situation is very similar to that of Hatton’s fellow Ryder Cup member Shane Lowry. Not being late, but eloping. Lowry, too, had eloped with Wendy Honner. Their decision, however, emanated from the anxiety of a long wedding guest list.
As for Tyrrell Hatton, the elopement was not the only highlight of the day. Mother Nature, too, had some great pranks planned for the newlyweds. As soon as the couple arrived at their ceremony, they wanted to go to the Blue Ridge Parkway for a hike to take some nice pictures. But the moment the vows were exchanged, heavy rain poured down.

“Unfortunately, after finishing the ceremony, it absolutely p*ssed down with rain, and we then had to drive like two miles down the road, pulled over in a lay by, and we had our wedding pictures on the side of the road,” Hatton once shared to NBC Sports.
These incidents are just the tip of the iceberg of a very hilarious relationship that Hatton and his wife, Emily Braisher, share.

Tyrrell Hatton and Emily Braisher’s porta-potty interruption
Golf demands silence, focus, and impeccable timing, three things Tyrrell Hatton did not quite get during his 2019 Italian Open stint. And if one knows Hatton, they would be familiar with the Englishman’s short-tempered nature and outspoken brashness on the course. Then, who would have the audacity to disturb Hatton midway through his important swing?
Who else but his own wife?
As Hatton prepared himself to take a shot at the Olgiata Golf Club, a sudden clatter from the background stopped him mid-swing. It wasn’t a fan’s phone or a photographer’s shutter that caused the sound, but a porta-potty door slamming shut. Hatton froze, clearly distracted, and turned to locate the source of the noise. That’s when he realized that the commotion was caused by his wife, then fiancée, Emily.

“Is that you? What are you doing?” he asked.
Had it been anyone else, Hatton wouldn’t have hesitated in dropping a few f-bombs. But this time, he couldn’t help but grin about it. Looking at the camera, the Englishman then quipped:
“That’s my fiancée…You put me off You should be ashamed.”
Hatton finished T18 in that tournament with 6-under par.
What a fun couple! Right!
