Scottie Scheffler injured his right palm while making ravioli at home last Christmas. As a result, he underwent surgery, and since his return, fans are waiting for his comeback. More so because of his spectacular 2024 showing.  Although he came close with finishes like a T2 at the Texas Children’s Houston Open and a solo 4th finish at the Masters, he just couldn’t get in the bag. To that, he now has an answer.

At The RBC Heritage, the #1 golfer carded a 64 in the first round and is comfortably sitting at T2. Following his round, he talked about his winless streak. He said, “Well, definitely a step up from last week. Like I said at the beginning of the week, I felt like I’ve been learning a good amount this year, and my swing has continued to improve.”

Not only that, he is taking all of his performance as an experience and gave a powerful message saying, “I haven’t felt like I’ve had any real setbacks, just kind of improving, sharpening and getting a little bit better, and today was definitely a day where I hit it really nice.” That’s right, being unable to win isn’t a setback for the 2x masters champion.

Continuing on this, the interviewer asked him what he meant by ‘learning.’ To this, Scheffler responded, “I mean learning about your swing, game. I feel like in golf you can always be learning.” This year, Scheffler was off to a good start at Augusta, as he carded a 68. However, five bogeys in the second round and two in the third round didn’t allow him to climb up the leaderboard. Although the golfer tried to bounce back with a 69 in the final round, it wasn’t enough to catch Rory McIlroy.

From there, his winning streak took off, racking up 8 titles, an Olympic gold medal, and 16 top-10 finishes. While fans questioned his ability to win, the golfer also had an emotional confession after the masters.

One of the golfers who was incredibly happy with the Irishman’s victory was none other than the defending champion Scottie Scheffler. He made sure that Rory McIlroy got enough spotlight and said, “It was such an emotional day for him. I kind of just tried to stay out of the way and basically just get the jacket on without embarrassing him or myself.” Later, the 28-year-old went to express his admiration for McIlroy.

He added, “So it was cool to be able to see Rory get the job done and definitely from the outside it looked a bit more like relief than anything because Rory has accomplished everything in the game of golf and that was really the last thing for him to accomplish.” He also called the Irishman his ‘friend’ said that he was glad to be in that moment. At the same time, Scheffler was also sad about his loss and said, “The feeling you get from winning a tournament is a pretty special feeling. For me, I wish it lasted longer than it did. It doesn’t really last very long.”
