UNLV Freshman Aaron Jarvis Brings Massive Pride to the Cayman Islands With 2022 Masters Invite

The natives of the Cayman Islands are over the moon right now. Why wouldn’t they be? One of their own, Aaron Jarvis, will play for the first time at the Masters.

The 19-year-old Aaron Jarvis has created history by becoming the first golfer from the Cayman Islands to compete at the Masters. He got this opportunity by winning the Latin America Amateur Championship (LAAC).

With the win, he also secured a spot at the British Open, the British Amateur, the US Amateur. He wouldn’t be able to participate in US Open directly because of the win. However, he secured a spot at the final stage of the US Open qualifying. 

Jarvis graduated from the American Junior Golf Association in 2021. He has competed in four events, excluding the Amateur Championship. The highest place he was ever secured was T4 at the Scott Robertson Memorial Tournament. He ranks at 1669 in the World Amateur Golf Ranking list. 

The 19-year-old scored a total of 7-under in 281. After the win, Jarvis said“It means the world to me. The opportunity to go to the Masters, the British Open. There’s no young golfer who doesn’t dream of anything but going to those tournaments.”

After the LAAC win, golf fans all over the world and the natives of Cayman Island have sent him well wishes. 

The Masters welcomed Aaron Jarvis!

The Masters took their Twitter to congratulate Aaron Jarvis on creating history by becoming the first golfer from Cayman Island to get a chance to play at the Championship. 

Since the young golfer achieved what nobody could, the comments were filled with congratulatory messages from fans.

Some fans were in awe at how much the Latin America Amateur Championship offers its champions.

Along with the comments, many ‘quote tweeted’ the post.

Although it was mainly the fans, some news publications and their reporters congratulated Aaron for his accomplishments.

The Men’s golf coach of the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, also made this opportunity to share his happiness.

Aaron has achieved a spot to play at the Masters. However, he hasn’t won yet. But, the happiness of the fans on such news can make you understand how much this means to the people of the Cayman Islands.
